Healthy Black Bean Burger

Healthy Black Bean Burger

This plant based black bean burger is super yummy, very easy to make and has great nutritional value. The main ingredients of this burger are protein rich black beans and oats which are known for their high fibre content. Additionally I’ve packed in some omega 3 rich flax seeds and antioxidant rich walnuts which adds on some extra flavour while boosting the nutritional value.

I enjoy having these burgers in a Veggie bowl or on top of a salad but feel free to have them in a bun as well.

(Serves 2)

Instructions:

Begin by placing half of the black beans, your rolled oats, red wine vinegar, black pepper, soy, sauce, smoked paprika, chili powder, finely chopped garlic, and scallions in a mixing bowl.

Then grab a stick mixer and blend everything until it becomes a firm dough.

If you have a food processor you can also place all your ingredients in a food processor and mix them that way. Mixing by hand is a bit more difficult but also possible. If you plan on mixing by hand I reconmend using a hand masher.

Once your ingredients have become a firm dough, add in the rest of the beans and knead them into the dough. Then let your dough rest for about 5 minutes.

Now grab a frying pan, add a bit of oil to it and turn up to medium temperature (If you prefer not using oil and you don’t have a non-stick pan you can also simple place your burger patties in the oven and bake at 200 degrees for 10 minutes)

If you are doing the pan fried version, let the oil melt for about a minute and make sure it is evenly distributed in the pan.

Then place your burger patties and cook for approximately 5-10 minutes. I like to flip mine several times so that they cook nice and evenly.

Now that your delicious burger patties are done you can either place them in some buns or add on to a bowl, or salad.

Happy Burger days! xx
